Yes! We say yes to wedding planners, especially for weddings that take place at the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site. It’s a beautiful vintage, rustic venue and it makes a lovely setting for events, but there are no magic fairies that take care of all the little behind the scene details. So if an event is going to run smoothly, it takes a lot of effort and careful planning.
So for some people the idea of planning for a wedding is an exciting adventure, there are others that will view it as pure torture, and everything in between. It’s a big important day, and you’ll be spending a fair amount of money to celebrate it, so wouldn’t it be awesome if you could actually enjoy it? It’s truly possible, but definitely easier with a little bit of help from professionals.
Wedding Planners do weddings all the time, for a living – this is their job! They know how to make sure that things go well and they have the skills and resources to fix unexpected issues. If they are doing their job well, it will look deceptively easy. It is in fact a lot of hard work and preparation that happens ahead of time and behind the scenes that helps to create this illusion.
A good wedding planner may also be able to help you negotiate better prices with various preferred vendors, sometimes collectively saving enough to help cover the cost of the planner services. In the event business we work with a lot of different vendors, and over time you learn which ones stand out and consistently go above and beyond. Wedding Planners usually have a preferred vendors list that consists of their ‘dream team’ of vendors. They choose to work with these vendors because they know that they can count on them, and they have a good track record. This can be crucial to the success of an event.
Jeannine from A Charming Affair was the first wedding planner that we had to opportunity of working with. When we were first getting started hosting weddings at the PPG, Jeannine called for a bride that was at 90 days out on her wedding, and the barn venue that they had originally chosen was shut down and so they had to scramble and find a different venue. The family made a good choice in Jeanine, who took things in stride and managed to rework everything to work with this totally different venue.
It was wonderful from the venue perspective to have one single point of contact, along with a team of Jeanine’s staff that were ready, willing and able to do whatever it took to get everything done. Next up was Jennie of Beautiful Day Planning. She and her team were so organized and energetic, truly a delight to work with on every level. We were quickly learning to love and respect wedding planners.
We’re excited to nurture relationships with more wedding planners, and we definitely take note of the ones that are impressive. We hope to add many to our preferred vendor list in the near future, but Jeanine and Jennie set the bar pretty high, so they’ve got their work cut out for them!
